Services

Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of annual, or twice yearly even, physical examinations. Thorough check-ups and preventative care can help alleviate serious health problems, and pick them up sooner, before they even start showing signs of disease.  We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services:  Our hospital is equipped to provide a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.

Surgical Services:  Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of soft tissue surgical procedures.  This includes CO2 laser for less painful surgery and more fastidious hemostasis.  The laser is used in place of a scalpel blade, and seals off nerve endings and blood vessels as it cuts.  All declaws are done with the laser here, which prevents the need for a tourniquet and the potential side effects associated with that.

Anesthesia:  We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using a dedicated anesthesia monitor technician and the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored throughout all anesthetic procedures.

Internal medicine consults: We offer referrals to local internal medicine specialists who perform ultrasound and endoscopic procedures, and helps us with the diagnosis of more complicated cases.  We also have local mobile radiologists who will travel to our clinic to perform ultrasounds in-clinic as well.

Radiology Services:  Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the immediate diagnosis of many disorders.

Laboratory:  Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.

Electrocardiography Services:  We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with local cardiology specialists.

Dentistry:  Our dental services include teeth scaling and polishing and fluoride treatment, full mouth digital dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.  We also offer referrals to local veterinary dentists as needed for more complicated cases (such as root canals and crowns).

Permanent identification: We offer Avid microchip identification.  Microchipping can be done at any time, but because the needle used to inject the microchip into the subcutaneous space is larger than the needles used for vaccines or other routine injections, we prefer to do microchipping when a patient is already anesthetized (ie during spay/neuter) and won't feel the needle.

Pharmacy:  We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets, and can special order those that we don't normally carry, if your pet requires a different food.

Individualized Tick and Flea Control Programs:  We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control ticks and fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.  Luckily for us, fleas are generally not a problem in our area for the common household pet, but occasionally we do see some pets with fleas (especially those from a shelter situation, or those that have travelled to other areas).

Dietary Counseling:  We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.

Behavioral Counseling:  We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.  We can also provide a referral to a local veterinarian behavioral specialist for those difficult cases that the typical suggestions and treatments don't help.

Boarding:  We provide pet boarding as a service to our clients. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Pets may be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Saturday.   Pets must be up to date on their shots (bordetella, distemper/parvo (da2pp) and rabies for dogs, and upper respiratory combo (FVRCP) and rabies for cats) and have had a stool sample checked and negative within the past year.  Dogs are walked 4 times a day and kept as close to their schedules at home as possible, per your directions for us.  We ask for contact information while you are away in case we have any questions, medical problems or emergencies that may arise with your pet while you are away.

Grooming:  Our groomer offers highly skilled grooming services Monday through Friday.

Emergency Care:  Please call our main telephone number for instructions for after-hour emergencies.  There are several local emergency clinics and their numbers are provided on our answering machine.
